The music classes at Wortham Elementary are now offered for Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade every day. We have an established recorder and rhythm instrumental program, extra-curricular vocal ensembles, a winning reputation in the UIL Music Memory Event, one musical production performance for each grade level annually, a super multicultural festival annually, and more!
Please use this page to find current information on these programs, reminders for projects and events, and news. The kids at Wortham Elementary School will have music on alternate days beginning the school year.

Show Choir

This marks the seventh year for this group. You must be in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, and you must audition, but once you're in. . . the places you will go! The Show Choir presents two shows annually, one for the holiday season in December and one for the spring season. The group has performed at Six Flags under the Carousel for six years, presenting shows with wide ranging and entertaining themes: Rock & Roll, Blues, Jazz, Texas History, and Show Tunes. The group attends a judging event in the spring, funded partially by their annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser scheduled the last Saturday in March.

Rockin Recorders

Rockin Recorders is an instrumentally focused performance group providing two programs annually, a holiday program and a theme-based field trip/performance in the spring. This group has been on two courthouses of Texas tours, appeared at Fort Worth's Frontier Days, and played at the Scarborough Renaissance Faire in Waxahachie. This is also a competitive ensemble, making state honors in the Texas Federation of Music Clubs and SandyLake competitions

Showing Academic Excellence in All Areas of Music Study: Vocal, Instrumental, Composition, Theory, HIstorical, and Multicultural. The Winners of the All-Star Music Award have provided mentorship for others in the music class environment and have advanced to represent the community of Wortham in and outside the district.
