Sherry Shivers, Secretary to the Superintendent/Accts Payable

Lana Calame, Business Manager

To all our partners in the Wortham Community:

I am happy to report that we are making progress with our website updates. Our goal is to make the site function faster and in doing this; make it easier for you to find information. Throughout the process, we may have a few hours periodically when certain pages or links may be down. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Among the additional features are quick links to various locations in the site where you will find valuable information.  I encourage you to explore these links as they go live. You may wish to take note of the ones most interesting to you for quick access in the future. We will be using data from the site to enhance our layout and topics so, the more you use the site the better it will become.

As you may see on the Major Links list, we are moving toward the installation of the new “parent portal”.  The pilot will be launched in January with a full rollout immediately following the test period. Look for more information in January.  For routine daily updates such as schedule changes, please check the Daily Updates link on the Home Page.  This will help make updates easy to find and information under the Parent Messages link will also keep you informed on the latest letters home.

My vision is centered on ensuring that "Students Come First". Our efforts as a team within the Wortham ISD educational community can be described in three primary concepts: commitment, caring-concern and common sense. We are committed to the success of our students, parents/caregivers and each other. As role models, we are building a culture of caring and concern by leading by example. By recognizing that students need to understand a common sense approach to problem solving, we promote the best opportunity for success at school and in the workplace as well as the world beyond. By agreeing that education is business with many unique characteristics, we can prepare for the future through new technologies, advances in research and by embracing the ever-growing need for accountability in the 21st Century. When we focus on commitment, concerned caring and a common sense approach, we can provide the best environment for all our kids, each day no matter what the challenges we face and they in turn will thrive in reaching their own full potential.

I welcome your comments and feedback any time. I believe that open dialogue with all stakeholders is essential to improving the environment for everyone. Please feel free to call the district office and share your opionion or schedule a time to visit.

Thanks again for all the support. GO BULLDOGS!!!

Bruce Tabor, WISD Superintendent/CEO
