Digital Instruction Update
Most public school online classes are provided by colleges through the Texas Virtual School Network. We know from our current experience that high school students are sometimes expected to understand components of digital instruction at the level of a college student. While students can often handle the academics, some high school students simply may not comprehend the mechanics of digital course delivery. They need more exposure to a typical online format and expectations.
The Digital Instruction Facilitator (DIF), would typically be a certified teacher or para professional with recent and extensive online learning experience. This role would serve as an instructional guide and mentor for all students enrolled in online instruction including Dual Credit; the DIF position should not be confused with that of a technology specialist. The DIF will help students address communication issues with professors, group projects, grades, research papers, vocabulary, presentations and more. Grant funding is being sought to support this pilot over the next four years but for now, I will step in to help create the best possible experience and outcome for our students.

Our vision is centered on ensuring that "Students Come First." Our efforts as a team within the Wortham ISD educational community can be described in three primary concepts: commitment, caring-concern and common sense. We are committed to the success of our students, parents/caregivers and each other. As role models, we are building a culture of caring and concern, leading by example. By recognizing the value of a common sense approach to problem solving, we are promoting the best opportunity for success at school and in the workplace, and beyond. Education is business with many unique characteristics. With new technologies, advances in research and by embracing the ever-growing need for accountability, we prepare for the future. When we focus on commitment, concerned caring and a common sense approach, we can provide the best environment for all our kids, each day no matter what the challenges we face, and they in turn, will thrive in reaching their own full potential.
I welcome your comments and feedback any time. I believe that open dialogue with all stakeholders is essential to improving the environment for everyone. Please feel free to call the district office and share your opinion or schedule a time to visit.
Thanks again for all the support. GO BULLDOGS!!!
Dr. Tabor
