There is a growing threat to the health and safety of our children that we want to make sure you are aware of. Fentanyl is a man-made, Schedule II narcotic that has reached a growing number of communities of all sizes across Texas and has impacted so many lives. We feel safe and secure in our tight-knit community, but our kids are not immune to the exposure to this dangerous drug. In fact, just this week, we were made aware of student fentanyl use in our community, and we all need to work together to help stop this spreading crisis. Here is a little information about this "invisible killer."

Parents in order to ensure that our 4th-8th grade students are kept safe, we have made a small change to our dismissal procedure.  Lane 1 (closest to the building) will be for any parent picking up a 6-8 grade student.  6th-8th grade students will leave from the front doors of the Middle School. 4th and 5th grade students will dismiss from the side door at the ramp. Just like always.  Parents only picking up 4th or 5th grade students will need to be in Lane 2.  We will not allow students to run through cars.  Students will wait at cones until parents pull up.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.  It is our goal to ensure the safety of our students.

The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) and its charitable partner organization, the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) are offering online tutoring FREE to all students in Texas public schools. Please help TRTA spread the word to your students!

  • TRTF Tutor Program is offering FREE online tutoring services in all grade levels and most subject areas by matching students with retired, certified Texas teachers that meet their specific tutoring needs.
  • The TRTF online tutor platform is a highly flexible program designed to accommodate busy schedules by allowing students and families to select their own tutor and set tutoring sessions that work best for them.
  • At this point, all tutor session hours are provided through donations to TRTF and are FREE to any Texas public school student. There is no limit to the number of tutoring sessions a student can utilize; however, the tutor hours are available on a first come, first serve basis, and we will serve as many students as we have available hours.

Below you will find the basic information on how to access the tutors. We currently have about 200 tutors who cover a broad array of subjects and grade levels. TRTF would love for your district to spread the word to your parent-teacher organizations, teachers and students and give them access to the platform.

1.     Sign up online with the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation.
2.     Submit a request and review qualified tutors for specific courses.
3.     Select your tutor and schedule a session.
4.     Meet with your tutor.

The Online Tutoring Services program is FREE of charge to all students and families. Please take a look and let us know if you decide to market TRTF Tutors to your school district.
