2023-2024 Varsity Cheer Handbook

2023 -2024 WHS Cheerleading Tryout Information

Tryouts will be held on Friday, March 10 with varsity starting at 1:30 and junior high will follow. 

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Wednesday, February 15th at 5:30pm in the cafeteria.

Candidate must perfom and individual cheer and chant along with 3 jumps – toe touch, herkie, and a jump of choice.

Candidate must also perform a group cheer, chant, and dance that will be taught at the mandatory tryout cheer clinic on Sunday, March 5th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm at the gym. 

The following must be worn for tryouts:

Royal blue shorts, a white shirt void of any writing, white socks, and athletic shoes. (Sports bras must not be able to be seen through the shirt.) Hair must be worn in a ponytail with the hair secured away from the face. Hair that is too short to be worn in a ponytail should be worn “half-up” and away from the face. Cheer bows representing Wortham ISD school colors will be allowed to be worn. No glitter make-up, glitter lotions or sprays, nail polish, or jewelry will be allowed.

All tryout material will be posted on this website on Sunday, March 5th at 6:00pm.
