Wortham ISD names Jennifer Parnham as lone finalist for

Jennifer Parnham has served over 27 years in education, she is recognized for her strategic leadership, improving student outcomes, and community engagement. Their educational philosophy centers on providing personalized learning for all students and ensuring a safe, innovative learning environment for all students.
Professional Background & Key Accomplishments
Previously, Jennifer Parnham served as principal at both Buffalo ISD and Thorndale ISD.
While serving as a principal she successfully passed a bond, improved student learning, and implemented a new curriculum. She holds a PhD in educational leadership from Capella University, a Masters degree in educational leadership and BS in education fromTexas Woman’s University.

"I am thrilled to join Wortham ISD and partner with staff, parents, and the community to build upon the district's successes," said Jennifer Parnham. Their immediate focus will be on visiting schools, reviewing strategic plans, establishing trust and relationships.

While the main roads into Wortham are much improved because of ice treatment and just more travel, the rural roads still have a significant amount of ice. Out of an abundance of caution, Wortham ISD will close on Wednesday, January 28th. We expect the conditions to improve tomorrow, and we look forward to getting our kids back in school on Thursday.
With the temps staying below freezing today, the road conditions remain dangerous for travel into tomorrow. Wortham ISD will err on the side of caution and safety and be closed again on Tuesday, January 27th. We will reassess on Tuesday afternoon to make any decisions regarding Wednesday.
The overnight frozen precipitation has created unsafe driving conditions on our roads, and with temperatures not expected to get above freezing today, the conditions will not improve. So Wortham ISD will cancel school for Monday, January 26th. We will reassess the conditions on Monday afternoon and send out an update regarding any decision for school on Tuesday.

The district will monitor the weather conditions and road conditions this weekend, and we will will provide an update on Sunday regarding any potential school closures/late starts. The current forecast is not favorable for travel this weekend, and emergency management suggests staying home and avoiding any travel if that is possible.
